A field experiment was conducted at the experiment station university of Jiroft at 2018-2019 growing season. A split plot experiment arranged in randomized complete block design with three replications was used. Main plots were sowing date at five levels of 13th and 27th of October, 12th and 27th of November and 10th December, chickpeas cultivars were Adel, Azad, and Arman as sub plot. The results showed that planting date had a significant effect on plant height, number of main branches, number of sub branches, number of pods per plant, number of grains per pod, weight of 100 grains, grain yield , biomass yield, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and total chlorophyll, carotenoids, leaf total protein, leaf phenol and anthocyanin. Interaction effect of planting date × cultivar was significant in the studied traits except number of grains per pod. Comparison of the means showed that the highest amount of grain yield and biological yield were observed at 1019 and 2833 kg.ha-1, respectively, on the first planting date (13 October) and Arman cultivar. Also the lowest amount of grain yield and biomass yield were 413 and 1260 kg. ha-1, respectively, to the date of the last cultivation and Adel cultivar. Changing the planting date has caused the plant to undergo various environmental stresses, and as a result, the metabolism and yield of the pea plant have been affected. According to the results it seems the best date for planting chickpeas in the study area is October13 and the most suitable cultivar is Arman.
