Climate change and reduced rainfall have brought increased attention from researchers to the production of durum wheat varieties suitable for cultivation in rainfed fields. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to further explore the genetic diversity among existing durum wheat germplasms to identify genotypes with high potential for breeding programs. In this study, 117 selected durum wheat genotypes from the international germplasm trial, along with three control cultivars (Seymareh, Dehdasht, and Sawers), were evaluated for morphological and agronomic traits using an augmentation design. Results indicated that the average of grain yield of the studied genotypes was 4113.7 kg/ha. Cluster analysis categorized the germplasm into three main clusters, with the third cluster showing the highest average grain yield at about 5329.1 kg/ha. Additionally, Venn Diagram results revealed that among the high-yielding genotypes, G004, G071, and G072, along with the three control cultivars, exhibited favorable traits and are promising candidates for breeding programs focused on producing cultivars for rainfed cultivation in tropical regions.
